Pembahasan Elliptical Structure

What the meaning about Elliptical Structure ??

Elliptical Constructions adalah Proses penggabungan 2 kalimat yang berbeda subject, namun memiliki kata kerja (verb) dan Pelengkap (Complement) yang sama.

Tujuannya ialah untuk mengurangi /menghilangkan kalimat yang dianggap tidak perlu. Sehingga kalimat yang akan diucapkan maupun ditulis menjadi lebih singkat. Kalimat tersebut akan terasa indah dan menarik.

Jenis Elliptical Construction

Berbicara tentang tipe atau jenis jenis  elliptical construction sebenarnya sangat sederhana dan tidak banyak jumlahnya. Jenis atau tipe Elliptical Construction berikut ini:

            1. Too dan So (Juga)

            2. Either dan Neither (tidak Juga)

            3. But (Tidak)

Rumus yang digunakan :

            1. POSITIVE ELLIPTICP (Too – So)

Affirmative statement (to be) + and +	Subject + to be +too
	So + to be + subject
Affirmative statement + and + (auxiliary verb)	Subject + auxiliary verb only +too
	So + auxiliary verb only + subject
ffirmative statement + and + (single verb except ”to be”)	Subject + (do, does, did) +too
	So + (do, does, did) + subject

            2. NEGATIVE ELLIPTIC (Either- Neither)

Negative statement + and +   

Subject + negative auxiliary or “to be” +either

Neither + positive auxiliary or “to be” + subject

            3. CONTRARY ELLIPTIC (But)

Kalimat positif ,

BUT + subject kalimat ke-2 + auxiliary + not

Kalimat negatif,

BUT + subject kalimat ke-2 + auxiliary

Contoh Kalimat Elliptical Construction:

            1. Arya Studies english everyday, and I am too.

            2. Arya Studies english everyday, and so am I

            3 .I did’nt go to school yeserday, and He did’t Either.

            4. I did’nt go to school yeserday, and neither did He

            5. Erik come here, but Adi doesn’t.

            6. Feri doesn’t work hard, but I do.
